BOOK COVER DESIGN | ILLUSTRATION
I designed this book cover for "Where the Crawdads Sing" by Delia Owens for a class assignment. At the time, "Where the Crawdads Sing" was the most recent novel I have read, and it stuck with me because of its lovely descriptions of nature and the marsh. The main character is also an artist, so I took a more illustrative approach when designing this cover. I wanted to emphasize the themes of isolation, loneliness, and loyalty to the marsh: a central theme within the novel. By placing the character in the negative space of the illustration, I wanted to show her deep connection and personification of the marsh - her most loyal and loving companion.
